The City and County of Denver's Arts and Venues Department is seeking a Building Engineer to perform full performance level work in the daily operation, maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair for facilities, including utilizing automated control systems to monitor, adjust and control various electrical and mechanical building systems. This position will be responsible for the daily operation of, and periodic preventative maintenance on, a facilitys mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems; including air handling units, Commercial and domestic cool and hot water systems, Experience with commercial kitchen equipment is a plus. Arts & Venues is the City and County of Denver agency responsible for operating some of the regions most renowned facilities, including Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, Denver Coliseum and McNichols Civic Center Building. As the Lead Building Engineer, you can expect to: Perform permanently assigned lead work over staff responsible for the daily operation of, and periodic preventative maintenance on, a facilitys mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems; including air handling units, domestic cool and hot water systems, heating and chill water systems, Evaluates and recommends equipment and service upgrades; Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians for contracted work; Coordinate contractor, tenant and management approvals for work orders that require the use of an outside contractor Assist supervisors and managers in planning and controlling annual budgets; Assist in the training of employees Maintain and operate automated and mechanical environmental control systems, which includes monitoring and programming master controls, calibrating and coordinating sequencing of controls, overseeing and monitoring power supply systems, troubleshooting and diagnosing systems errors, and making corrections in order to maintain building and facility temperatures and environmental conditions Maintain, operate, and repair building and facility equipment related to environmental control systems, which includes electrical and mechanical components, plumbing and sewage systems, heating and air conditioning systems, ventilation and air handling systems, cold and hot water systems, electrical and fuel operated generators, which includes fire protection and detection systems Perform routine preventative maintenance based on operating procedures and regularly scheduled maintenance activities of equipment, and regularly inspects facilities, buildings, and grounds for unsafe or malfunctioning systems and conditions. Assist other trades personnel in the maintenance and repair of building and facility infrastructure and equipment, which includes the installation and modification of equipment Plan and coordinate the maintenance and installation of major building and facility equipment repairs and related activities within a variety of specific trades areas, which includes the evaluation and recommendation of service upgrades; Respond to building and facility tenant complaints with regard to safety issues and environmental control conditions, which includes following up on work orders, and prioritizing service calls Order parts and supplies as required, maintains stock and inventory control; Operate and maintains tools and equipment common to various skilled trades Maintain records and prepares reports, which includes estimating materials, labor, and equipment costs Adhere to and observes all common safety practices and operating procedures; Perform snow removal duties About You Our ideal candidate will have: At least six (6) years of professional journey level HVAC experience; At Least four (4) years in a trade related leadership position; Experience in events Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team oriented mindset; proven collaboration skills Passion for their work and expertise; Takes ownership of wor Professional experience in troubleshooting and repairing large building HVAC systems in facilities exceeding 100,000 sq. ft. in siz Experience in operating Building Automation Systems (BAS); Previous professional experience utilizing Automated Work Order system Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to delegate responsibilities, an adaptable and flexible mindset.
